On Thursday I will be at the European Legal e-Access conference in Paris which is coordinated by the French Government (under France’s EU presidency). I will be talking at a round table about "how to promote and improve access to a European legal literature". I will present this blog and SCRIPTed, the online, peer-reviewed law and technology journal of the University of Edinburgh. Here is the link to the full program of the three day conference, available in English, French, German and Spanish. I am looking forward to meeting many of you there.

French-law.net was launched on 8 January 2007 and we believe that a wee celebration is long overdue! According to data collected by Google Analytics, you have visited nearly 14,000 times, reading an aggregated 35,000 pages. Thanks a lot for your readership! As the first blog in English dedicated to legal news from France, we have been delighted to see that many of our articles have been referenced in other websites and publications (for a non-exhaustive list see “the about page”). We look forward to keeping you informed about the effervescent world of French technology law. To celebrate this success and longevity (in internet terms) we have created a new design for the website; the conception and implementation of which largely explain the delayed celebration. However we think the new look and functionalities were well worth the effort and time. Here are a few facts about you: what you are interested in, where do you come from and how geeky you are:

Hi, many readers have mentioned a recent problem in accessing web pages on French-law.net through the RSS feed. When people click on a French-law article in their RSS reader the following message appears:“You are not authorised to view this resource. You need to login.” I don’t really know what happened there. Everything seemed to be working fine one day and the next day my RSS creator decided to vet direct access to my pages. I’m trying to fix the problem. I guess that it is what happens when a non-techy guy embarks in the mad project of creating a website from scratch rather than opting for the more sensible option of using wordpress, blogger, moveable type…. In the meantime, you can access content, without having to register, through the home page. Sorry again for the inconvenience.

Dear readers, French-law.net is improving the way in which you can keep in contact with us by changing its RSS feed and email subscription services. The new RSS feed, provided by Google-owned “Feedburner”, is now compatible with all RSS readers (to understand what a feed and a reader are; watch this short video “RSS in plain English”). The new email service, also provided by Feedburner, makes it easier to subscribe and unsubscribe to our newsletter. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: - RSS Feed: If you have subscribed to our RSS feed before August 31, please use the new feed by clicking here. You can also subscribe directly in any RSS reader here. !!! The old feed will soon be disconnected, so we recommend that you update as soon as possible. Many thanks!
Email: If RSS is not your thing, you can receive our latest news by email, just subscribe to our newsletter here. Thanks a lot for your readership. French-law.net |
